History

Sam Malamud. The Inverted Jenny block sold at auction in October 2005 for US $2.7 million Part of the treasure recovered from the sunken spanish ship 'El Cazador' To get children interested in stamp collecting, Sam Malamud donated $20,000 for the first contest of a youth essay program sponsored by the American Philatelic Society and supported by the U.S. Postal Service. According to Linn's Stamp News editor and publisher Michael Laurence, Sam Malamud is one of the most innovative pioneers in modern stamp collecting. "Sam has done probably more than anybody else to reach out to new constituencies of stamp collectors," he said. The New York Times noted that Sam Malamud is the single person to be credited with a resurgence of stamp collecting in recent years.

Sam Malamud is highly respected by his fellow philatelists, having served on the board of directors of many professional societies.
